Description
The first and oldest Afrikaans magazine, Ons Klyntji, was founded in 1896.
In the 1990s, Ons Klyntji appeared as a zine under the editorship of Koos Kombuis (who is currently an honorary editor of Klyntji). The printed Ons Klyntji literary zine is still published annually, with Toast Coetzer, Erns Grundling, and Joe Botha serving as editors. Contributing editors include Mechiel Boshoff, Jaco du Plooy, Willow Ruby, Leanne Rencken, Elzanne Coetzee, Elodi Troskie, and Andréa Müller.
Klyntji.com was established in 2014 by founding editor Francois Lion-Cachet—the great-great-grandson of Jan Lion Cachet, a founding member of the original Ons Klyntji. Both Klyntji.com and the Ons Klyntji zine are published by Klyntji, a voluntary association with PBO and NPO status.
